Free college fees for seniors

Alabama

Alabama seniors can attend any two-year institution within the state completely free.

Adults 60 years of age or older should contact the financial aid office of any community college for admission and eligibility details.

Alaska

The University of Alaska waives tuition for residents who are old enough to receive full Social Security benefits. Seniors must wait until the first day of classes to register to ensure there is room left; They must also complete a tuition waiver form.

Additional costs such as student activity, health center, and lab fees are not covered; The student must pay them directly.

Arizona

All ten Maricopa Community College campuses allow seniors to take classes for 50% credit of the full tuition cost.

Students aged 65 and over must register between the first and second term classes of the term to ensure a place is available.

Maryland

Any student of the University of Maryland system who is retired and over 60 years of age may have tuition waived, even for degree-granting programs.

Michigan

Seniors 60 and over receive tuition-free tuition at Northern Michigan University; At Wayne State University in Detroit, seniors 60 and older receive a 75% discount on tuition, but must pay registration and related fees.

Ohio

Ohio residents who are at least 60 years old can attend class at any state college for free. Senior students do not receive credit and may only enroll on a space available basis.

South Carolina

Residents 60 and over may attend public school classes on a credit or non-credit basis, with free hanging space available. The school shall grant admission through its normal procedures.

West Virginia

West Virginia allows residents 65 and older to attend undergraduate and graduate courses on a space available basis; Both credit and checking options are available. Schools may still require seniors to pay fees such as parking.

While WVU senior students applying for credit must use the normal admissions form, those who wish to be non-degree students only pay $5 to apply.

Wyoming

Upon admission to the University of Wyoming, seniors age 65 and older may attend class on a free space basis.
